5000 Series Steer Axles

AxleTech 5000 Series steer axle

The AxleTech 5000 Series planetary steerable axles are engineered to meet the increasing demands of the 4×4, 6×6 or 8×8 off-highway trucks, all terrain (AT) cranes, multi-axle mobile cranes, tow tractors, and heavy duty specialty type vehicle vocations. This axle has a vocationally dependent axle load rating of up to 28,700 lbs (13,000 kg).

The 5000 series steer axle has common wheel mounting capability with the 5000 series rigid, as well as other axles of the 3000/4000 series families, brake option and selected hub mounting dependant.

  • Includes a choice of 4 planetary hub reductions that provide an axle ratio range from 5.38 to 17.50.
  • Double cardan axle shafts are standard to permit high steer angle capability.
  • Outboard mounted brake drums have been designed for air-actuated brakes that permit easier serviceability without requiring the planetary hub reduction to be taken apart.
  • Wheel-mounted ABS is available.
  • A central tire inflation option is available for vehicles demanding increased floatation in various rugged, off-road vocational duty cycles.
  • Carrier differential options include air-actuated differential lock or limited slip.
  • Wide range of input flanges sizes and styles.
  • Multiple axle pad mounting styles are available with location flexibility on the high-strength fabricated axle housing design.
  • Steering tie rods can be fitted either above or below carrier pinion input depending on brake type

PSC826

AxleTech PSC826

The AxleTech PSC826 series planetary steer axle has an axle capacity range up to 37,000 lbs (16,800 kg) in mobile cranes. This axle covers a broad range of demanding vocational applications including snow blowers, specialty construction vehicles, and off highway exploration, among other common usages.

  • DCDL (driver-controlled differential lock) and NoSPIN® differential options are also available for improved traction vocational requirements.
  • A standard input pinion unitized seal reduces the likelihood of oil leaks.
  • Permanently lubricated steering axle shafts are standard
  • Extra axle housing magnets are optional.
  • Wheel-mounted single caliper, 4-piston per wheel end hydraulic dry disc brakes.
  • Carrier input pinion mounted park brake option.

PSC1764

AxleTech PSC1764

The AxleTech PSC1764 planetary steerable axle has an axle capacity of up to 55,000 lbs (24,900 kg) in RT cranes. This axle covers a broad range of demanding vocational applications, and the actual capacity will depend on the specific vocation.

  • DCDL (driver-controlled differential lock) and NoSPIN® differential options are also available for improved traction vocational requirements.
  • A standard input pinion unitized seal reduces the likelihood of oil leaks.
  • Permanently lubricated steering axle shafts are standard.
  • Optional extra axle housing magnets.
  • Wheel-mounted single or dual 4-piston hydraulic caliper/wheel end dry disc is standard.
  • Carrier input spring apply/hydraulic release pinion mounted park brake options

PSC1794

AxleTech PSC1794

The AxleTech PSC1794 planetary steerable axle has an axle capacity range of up to 58,000 lbs (26,300 kg). This axle meets the requirements for larger RT cranes.

  • DCDL (driver-controlled differential lock) and NoSPIN® differential options are also available for improved traction.
  • A standard input pinion unitized seal reduces the occurrence of oil leaks.
  • Permanently lubricated steering axle shafts are standard.
  • Extra axle housing magnets are optional.
  • Wheel-mounted dual hydraulic 4-piston caliper/wheel end dry disc brakes.
  • Carrier input pinion mounted spring applied/hydraulic release park brake option.

PSC5494

AxleTech PSC5494

The AxleTech PSC5494 planetary steerable axle is engineered to meet the demands of the heavy-duty rough terrain crane and logging reach truck vocations, with an axle capacity of up to 90,000 lbs (40,860 kg).

  • A DCDL (Driver Controlled Differential Lock), limited slip differential with a 2.0 bias ratio and NoSPIN® differential options.
  • A standard input pinion unitized seal reduces oil leaks.
  • Permanently lubricated steering axle shafts are standard.
  • Extra axle housing magnets are optional and will help reduce metallic contamination between scheduled lubricant change intervals.
  • Wheel-mounted dual caliper/wheel end hydraulic dry disc is standard.
  • Carrier input pinion mounted park brake option is also available.
